About Industry

Hospitality & Tourism – fascinating and growing industry According to the statistics released by Government of India for the year 2017, total 8.80 million foreign tourists arrived in India registering an annual growth of 9.7% against global tourism growth of 3.9%. Domestic tourist visits was 1613.6 million with annual growth of 12.7%.
Foreign exchange earnings from tourism was US$ 22.92 billion (INR 1, 54,146 crore) at an annual growth of 8.81% against global growth of 2.0%
The tourism industry generates 13.50 million jobs across sub-segments such as Restaurants (10.49 million jobs), Hotels (2.3 million jobs) and Travel Agents/Tour Operators (0.66 million).
But considering the fact that India’s share in international tourist arrivals is only 1.18% and it ranked 25th in the world; a lot much is needed to promote it. India has all the elements of attracting a tourist; be it snow clad mountains, adventure sports, trekking sites, beaches, wildlife, heritage & historic sites or its rich cultural heritage, handicraft, cuisine ….
Indian tourism share can achieve around 3.0% globally but considering the fact that it has only 208 approved hotels under four star category, 128 under five star , 138 under five star deluxe and 36 heritage properties, a lot more needs to be done to improve tourism infrastructure. It’s not only construction of hotels and restaurant but to get trained manpower to run them professionally is going to be a challenge for industry.
The hospitality training and education sector is not only providing trained manpower for the country but India is fast becoming a major source of trained manpower for rest of the world, last decade has seen tremendous growth and innovation in this sub sector also. One of major sub-sector where Indian manpower has registered their presence is cruise liners and shipping industry.

This surge of luxury hotels is going to generate a huge demand of trained manpower. Keeping this fact in mind prestigious JIET group of Institutions is setting up a sprawling infrastructure in their Jodhpur campus to provide undergraduate and diploma courses in Hotel Management to the desirous students.
